Overview
The Historical Data setting controls how long Scheduler job history is retained in the Scheduler database.
Reducing the retention period can help limit database growth by automatically removing older Scheduler job start and completion records. This can be useful in environments where Scheduler jobs run frequently, and historical logging data accumulates over time.
Note: This feature is available in VDM version 2024.3.14 and later.
Before You Begin
To access Scheduler Service settings, VDM must be launched with administrative privileges.
- Close VDM if it is currently running.
- Right-click the VDM application.
- Select Run as Administrator.
Configure Historical Data Retention
- Open Settings.
- Select Service Options.
- Scroll to the Scheduler Service section.
- Locate the Historical Data setting.
- Enter the number of days you want Scheduler history to be retained.
By default, the setting is configured to retain 60 days of historical data.
How Historical Data Retention Works
The Historical Data setting automatically removes older Scheduler job history records after the specified number of days.
This process clears stored Scheduler job start and completion information, helping reduce database size and prevent unnecessary database growth over time.
Recommended Usage
Consider reducing the retention period if:
- Your Scheduler database is growing rapidly.
- You do not require long-term Scheduler job history.
- You want to minimize storage used by Scheduler logging data.
Consider increasing the retention period if:
- You need historical job information for auditing or troubleshooting.
- You frequently review Scheduler execution history.
