Bridgit can help you find an existing Example Report or Successful Query for the active connection. Reusing an appropriate definition can reduce repeated work and provide a useful starting point for a new reporting request.
Before You Begin
Bridgit AI must be configured with an approved OpenAI API key before you begin. See Bridgit AI Overview and Usage Guide for setup information.
Open the Connection Profile whose knowledge you want to search. Example Reports and Successful Queries belong to a connection’s Knowledge; a catalog search is not a search of every View file on the computer. An administrator can add approved examples through Edit Knowledge.
Browse Available Examples
- Open Ask Bridgit and use the Query Building focus.
- Ask to see the available examples, such as What examples are available for this connection?
- Review the returned list or categories.
- If categories are shown, ask to see the examples in the category you want.
You can also enter /examples to identify the examples workflow. Natural-language requests can be used to browse or search the saved knowledge.
Search for a Reporting Purpose
Describe the result you want to find. For example:
Find an existing example that totals quantity by category for a date range. Show me the matching examples without running them.
Use your own reporting terms. A broad availability question asks for the catalog; a request with a reporting purpose asks Bridgit to find relevant saved knowledge. If no suitable example is available, you can ask Bridgit to build a new query.
Select an Example
- Identify the intended item in the current list.
- Refer to it by its displayed name or number, such as Show example 2.
- Review the retrieved definition and any notes before using it.
Note: Use a number from the list currently being discussed. If the conversation or list has changed, use the full example name or request the list again.
Review Before Running
Check the source tables, returned fields, parameters, filters and calculations. An example may have been created for another population or date range. A Successful Query records useful execution history; it does not, by itself, prove that the query answers your current business question.
Retrieving a saved definition for review does not itself authorize execution. When you want to run the selected example, say so explicitly, such as Run this example. If more than one item could be intended, identify it by name.
Adapt the Selected Report
Keep the conversation focused on the selected example and describe the required change. For example, ask for another date range, an additional output field or a different grouping. Review the resulting query changes and the Auto Run setting before continuing.
After execution, verify the returned records and totals, then save the resulting View. Ask your administrator to preserve an approved, reusable definition in Example Reports when appropriate.
If an Example Cannot Be Found or Used
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No examples are available | Confirm the connection and ask an administrator whether examples have been added to its Knowledge. |
| The wrong item is selected | State the exact displayed name and request the definition again. |
| The example refers to old fields | Ask an administrator to review the example and Knowledge Health before relying on it. |
| The query runs but the result is unsuitable | Review the population, parameters and calculation definitions; request a targeted change. |
