Bridgit Analysis provides an interactive chat experience that helps users better understand report results and dashboard data without manually reviewing every detail.
Prerequisites
Before using Bridgit Analysis, Bridgit AI must be configured within VDM.
At minimum, a valid OpenAI API Key must be entered in the Bridgit AI settings.
To configure Bridgit AI:
- Open Settings in VDM.
- Select User Options.
- Locate the Bridgit AI section.
- Enter your OpenAI API Key.
- Configure the desired AI models and settings.
- Repeat steps 2–5 for:
- Global Options
- Service Options
Note: Configuring both Global Options and Service Options requires running VDM with administrative privileges.
Note: Bridgit Analysis requires an active OpenAI API key and properly configured Bridgit AI settings before analysis features will be available.
Note: If you do not already have an OpenAI API key, you can create one through the OpenAI Platform. Additional usage charges may apply based on your OpenAI account and model usage.
Launching Bridgit Analysis
Bridgit Analysis is available within the Finished Reports Viewer and Visualize Viewer.
To launch Bridgit Analysis:
- Open a Finished Report in the Finished Reports Viewer or a dashboard in the Visualize Viewer.
- Select Analyze from the viewer toolbar.
- Bridgit Analysis opens and begins analyzing the displayed content using the configured prompt.
Note: Bridgit Analysis is launched from the viewer experience and is not available directly within the Finished Reports Designer or Visualize Designer.
Analyzing Reports and Dashboards
When Bridgit Analysis is launched, Bridgit AI reviews the report or dashboard and generates a summary based on the configured analysis prompt.
By default, Bridgit Analysis is configured to generate summaries using clear business language, making it easier to quickly understand report results and identify important information.
Analysis results may include:
- Executive-style summaries
- Business insights
- Key performance indicators
- Trend identification
- Data observations
- Important takeaways
For dashboards and visualizations, Bridgit Analysis can summarize charts, gauges, metrics, and other visual elements displayed within the dashboard.
Asking Follow-Up Questions
After the initial analysis is generated, users can continue the conversation using the Ask AI Assistant field.
This allows users to ask additional questions about the report or dashboard without leaving the viewer.
Users can enter questions manually using the Ask AI Assistant field or use the Push-to-Talk microphone option to speak their questions.

Example questions may include:
- Which team performed the best?
- What trends stand out?
- Which values appear outside expected ranges?
- What are the most important takeaways?
- Summarize this report for management.
- Explain the results in simple terms.
Bridgit Analysis uses the currently displayed report or dashboard as context when responding to follow-up questions.
Analysis Settings
Bridgit Analysis behavior can be configured through Bridgit Settings.
Separate settings are available for:
- Finished Reports Viewer
- Visualize Viewer
Available configuration options include:
- API Logging
- Code Interpreter
- Include Layout
- System Prompt
- User Prompt
- Web Tools
These settings allow administrators to customize how Bridgit Analysis processes and summarizes report data.
By default, Bridgit Analysis uses prompts such as:
Finished Reports Viewer
Summarize the report in clear business language.
Visualize Viewer
Summarize the dashboard in clear business language.
