The WRXValue setting is used to help VDM communicate with WebReports.
The value configured in the WebReports appsettings.json file must match the WebReports Value entered in the VDM WebReports connection profile.
Use this article to configure the WRXValue in WebReports and enter the same value in VDM.
Before You Begin
Before configuring WRXValue:
- Confirm that you have access to the WebReports installation directory.
- Confirm that you can edit the WebReports
appsettings.jsonfile. - Confirm that you have access to VDM.
- Make sure you have permission to create or edit a WebReports connection profile in VDM.
The WRXValue configured in WebReports and the WebReports Value entered in VDM must match exactly.
Configure WRXValue in WebReports
- Navigate to the WebReports installation directory.
- Locate
appsettings.json. - Open the file in a text editor with the appropriate permissions.
- Locate the
WRXValuesetting. - Replace the existing placeholder or value with the value you want to use.
Example:
"WRXValue": "MyWebReportsValue"
- Save the changes to
appsettings.json.

Save the WRXValue. You will enter the same value in VDM.
Open the Connection Profile Wizard in VDM
- Open VDM.
- Select the Database tab.
- Select New.

Select Web Reports as the Connection Type
The Connection Profile Wizard opens.
- In Connection Type, select Web Reports.
- Leave Prefix TO/Schema Name unchecked unless it is required for your environment.
- Select Next.

Enter the WebReports Connection Information
Enter the WebReports connection information.
Complete the fields required for your environment, including:
- URL
- Application Name
- Connection Profile
- API Key, if used
- WebReports Value
In WebReports Value, enter the same value configured for WRXValue in the WebReports appsettings.json file.
Entering the WebReports connection information in VDM
The WebReports Value must exactly match the WebReports
WRXValue. If the values do not match, VDM may not be able to connect to WebReports.
Test the WebReports Connection
After entering the connection information:
- Confirm that the URL and Connection Profile are correct.
- Confirm that the API Key is entered if your environment uses one.
- Confirm that the WebReports Value matches
WRXValue. - Select Test Connection.
If the connection test succeeds, select Next.
Configure Connection Profile Options
On the Options page, configure any additional connection profile settings required for your environment.
Available options may include:
- Save As New Connection Profile
- Profile Name
- Roaming
- Selected Schemas

When finished, select Finish.
Verify the Connection
After completing the Connection Profile Wizard:
- Return to VDM.
- Confirm that the WebReports connection profile is available.
- Use the connection to confirm that VDM can communicate with WebReports.
If the connection does not work, review the WRXValue and connection information.
Troubleshooting
Test Connection Fails
If Test Connection fails:
- Confirm that the WebReports URL is correct.
- Confirm that the correct WebReports connection profile is selected.
- Confirm that the API key is correct if Use API Key is enabled.
- Confirm that the WebReports Value exactly matches the
WRXValueinappsettings.json.
WebReports Value Does Not Match
If the values are different:
- Open the WebReports
appsettings.jsonfile. - Locate
WRXValue. - Compare it with the WebReports Value in VDM.
- Correct the value so both locations match.
- Save the configuration and test the connection again.
VDM Cannot Reach WebReports
- Confirm that the WebReports site is available.
- Confirm that the URL entered in VDM is correct.
- Confirm that the WebReports connection profile is valid.
- Verify the API key and WRXValue settings.
