A WebReports connection profile allows VDM to connect to a Connection Profile in your WebReports environment. This connection can then be used when publishing, updating, and working with Views between VDM and WebReports.
Before You Begin
Before creating the connection profile:
- Make sure you have access to the WebReports environment you want to connect to.
- The WebReports user must be assigned the appropriate Publisher permissions.
- Have your WebReports URL, authentication information, and WRXValue available.
- The Connection Profile must already exist in WebReports and be assigned to the WebReports user.
Note: Connection settings may differ depending on your WebReports environment and authentication method.
Create the WebReports Connection Profile
1. Open the Database Tab
From the VDM main screen, select the Database tab from the main ribbon.
2. Create a New Connection
Click New from the Database ribbon.
3. Select WebReports
From the available connection types, select WebReports.
If your database requires the table owner or schema name to be included, enable the option to prefix the TO/Schema Name.
4. Enter the WebReports URL
Enter the URL for the WebReports environment you want VDM to connect to.
5. Enter Your WebReports Credentials
Enter your WebReports Username and Password.
If the connection uses an API Key instead, select Use API Key and enter the required API Key information.
6. Enter the WRXValue
Enter the WebReports Value / WRXValue configured for your WebReports environment.
The WRXValue is defined by the WebReports administrator.
7. Refresh and Select the Connection Profile
Click Refresh List.
VDM retrieves the WebReports Connection Profiles available to the current WebReports user.
Select the Connection Profile you want to use.
Note: If the Connection Profile list is empty, verify that the connection has already been created in WebReports and that the WebReports user has been assigned access to it.
8. Enter a Profile Name
Enter a Profile Name for the connection in VDM.
The Profile Name must be unique.
9. Finish the Connection
Click Finish.
The connection setup window closes and VDM returns to the main screen.
Refresh the Connection Profiles in VDM
After creating the connection, the new profile may not appear immediately.
- From the VDM main screen, select the Database tab.
- Click Load All.
VDM refreshes the available connection profiles. The newly created WebReports connection profile should now be available.
Next Steps
After the WebReports connection profile is available in VDM, you can use it when publishing, updating, and opening WebReports Views.
