Learn key tips for migrating legacy .vdmas jobs into the new V10 Scheduler, optimizing your setup and significantly reducing job file clutter.
Why Migrate Legacy Jobs?
In VDM v10 and later, the architecture has changed. What were once separate job files for each execution are now grouped under Jobs with Calendar-based scheduling. Migrating legacy jobs improves efficiency and reduces maintenance.
📌 Note: A legacy
.vdmasjob in v9 or earlier is equivalent to a single Execution in v10. In v10, you schedule Jobs, not individual executions.
✅ Tip 1: Jobs, Not Executions
In v10, you are managing Jobs — not individual executions like in v9. That means:
🔹 50 separate
.vdmasjobs in v9 (each running every Monday at 7 AM)
🔹 ➡ Can be combined into a single v10 Job with recurring scheduling in the Calendar.
✅ Tip 2: Fewer Files After Migration
You will likely end up with significantly fewer Job files in v10. For example:
🎯 A client with 1,576 legacy jobs was able to consolidate them into just 30 Jobs in v10.
This is possible because each legacy job can be treated as an execution instance inside a larger, grouped Job.
✅ Tip 3: Export a List of Legacy Jobs
Before starting your migration, it’s helpful to see what you're working with. You can easily get a full list of legacy .vdmas jobs:
🔹 Open VDM
🔹 Click Enable Scheduler
🔹 View all jobs in the Details Grid
🔹 Export the grid to Excel for grouping and planning
💡 Pro Tip: Group jobs by type, run time, and frequency before importing to optimize consolidation.
✅ Tip 4: Schedule Jobs in the Calendar
Once jobs are migrated, you can schedule them using the Scheduler Calendar in v10.
Supports single or recurring appointments
Each calendar appointment can run one or multiple Jobs
🎯 Works like Outlook — flexible and visual job scheduling.
✅ Tip 5: You’re Not Alone!

Article Summary
