WebReports can use MySQL for its application database.
Use this article to install MySQL Server and MySQL Workbench and create the MySQL account that WebReports will use.
Before You Begin
Before installing MySQL:
- Confirm that you have administrator access to the Windows server.
- Review the WebReports Deployment Requirements and Network Architecture.
- Determine the MySQL server name, port, and database-account credentials that will be used by WebReports.
Download MySQL
Download the MySQL Installer from the official MySQL website:
If prompted to sign in or create an Oracle Web Account, select No thanks, just start my download to continue without signing in.
Install MySQL Server
- Run the downloaded MySQL Installer Community MSI.

On the Choosing a Setup Type page, select:
Server Only
- Click Next.
- Review the products that will be installed.
- Click Execute.
- Wait for the MySQL Server installation to complete.
- Click Next to begin product configuration.
Configure MySQL Server
Type and Networking
Configure the Type and Networking options appropriate for your WebReports environment.
Verify the port that MySQL will use. The default MySQL port is:
3306
If WebReports and MySQL are installed on different servers, confirm that the required network and firewall rules allow communication between them.
Configure Authentication
Select the MySQL authentication method appropriate for your environment and organizational requirements.
Configure the Root Account
Enter and confirm a strong password for the MySQL root account.
Store the root credentials according to your organization's credential-management policies.
The MySQL root account should not be used as the routine WebReports application account.
Create a WebReports Database Account
Create a separate MySQL account for WebReports.
- Click Add User.

Enter the account information.
Example username:
WRAdmin - Enter and confirm a strong password.
- Assign the database privileges required for administering the WebReports database.
- Click OK.
Record the username and password securely. These credentials will be required when configuring the WebReports database connection.
Configure the MySQL Windows Service
Configure the Windows Service options according to your environment.
In most environments, MySQL should be configured to start automatically with Windows.
Click Next when the service settings are complete.
Apply the MySQL Configuration
- Review the configuration steps.
- Click Execute.
- Wait for each configuration step to complete successfully.
- Click Finish.
- Complete the remaining MySQL Installer prompts.
Install MySQL Workbench
MySQL Workbench provides a graphical interface for administering the MySQL server and database.
Download MySQL Workbench from:
- Run the downloaded MySQL Workbench installer.
- Click Next.
- Select the installation location, or keep the default location.
- Select Complete as the setup type.
- Click Install.
- Approve the Windows installation prompt if displayed.
- Wait for the installation to complete.
- Click Finish.
Verify the Installation
After installation:
- Open MySQL Workbench.
- Connect to the MySQL Server.
- Verify that the WebReports database account can connect successfully.
- Record the server name, port, username, and password that will be used when configuring WebReports.
