Tables throughout WebReports provide tools for finding and organizing information. Depending on the page, you can search, sort, filter, group, and reset the displayed data.
The table controls available may differ by page and by your assigned permissions.
Searching table data
When available, the Search field provides a quick way to find records in a table.
To search a table:
- Locate the Search field above the table.
- Enter the text you want to find.
- Review the matching records.
The table updates automatically as you type and displays records containing the search text.
To display all records again, clear the Search field.
Note: The information included in a search may differ by page. Use a column filter when you need to search a specific column or create more precise criteria.
Sorting table data
To sort a table by a column:
- Select the column heading.
- Select the heading again to reverse the sort order.
The table updates immediately. A sort indicator in the column heading shows whether the values are arranged in ascending or descending order.
Filtering with a column selection list
A column’s filter menu allows you to display records containing selected values.
To filter using a selection list:
- Open the filter menu for the column.
- Select the value you want to display.
- Apply the selection, if prompted.
The table displays only the matching records.
You can filter additional columns to narrow the results further.
Creating an advanced filter
The filter builder allows you to create specific criteria using columns, conditions, and values.
To create an advanced filter:
- Open the table’s filter builder.
- Select the column you want to filter.
- Select a comparison condition.
- Enter or select the required value.
- Add other conditions when needed.
- Select OK.
The table displays only the records that meet the configured criteria.
Advanced filters are useful when you need to combine multiple conditions or use comparisons that are unavailable through the standard selection list.
Clearing filters
Filters remain active until you remove them.
Depending on the available controls, you can clear a filter by:
- Removing the value from the filter row.
- Removing the condition from the filter builder.
- Using the available clear-filter option.
After the filters are cleared, the table displays all available records again.
Note: Clearing the Search field does not remove column or advanced filters. Clear each active filter separately.
Grouping table data
Grouping organizes records according to the values in one or more columns.
To group a table:
- Locate the column you want to group by.
- Drag the column heading into the grouping area above the table.
- Release the column heading.
The table immediately organizes the records into groups based on that column.
Select a group to expand or collapse its records.
Grouping by multiple columns
When the table supports multiple groups, you can create additional grouping levels:
- Drag the first column heading into the grouping area.
- Drag another column heading into the grouping area.
- Arrange the grouped columns in the order you want them applied.
The first column creates the primary groups. Each additional column creates another level within those groups.
Removing grouping
To remove a group, you may drag the column heading out of the grouping area.
