Article Goal
Learn how to execute reports using the Queue option in WebReports and access the results from the Completed page.
Why Use Queue?
The Queue option allows users to execute a report and store the results on the Completed page without selecting an export format before execution.
This is useful when:
- You want to review the report results before exporting.
- You may need the report in multiple formats.
- You want to avoid re-running the same report multiple times.
- You want to access the report later from the Completed page.
Download vs Queue
WebReports provides two methods for running reports: Download and Queue.
| Feature | Download | Queue |
|---|---|---|
| Select output format before execution | Yes | No |
| Report executes immediately | Yes | Yes |
| Output stored in Completed Reports | Yes | Yes |
| Preview results before exporting | No | Yes |
| Export to multiple formats without re-running | No | Yes |
| Best for one-time exports | Yes | No |
| Best for reviewing results before exporting | No | Yes |
| Best for exporting the same report multiple times | No | Yes |
When Should I Use Download?
Use Download when you already know the file format you need and only require a single export.
Example: Download a monthly sales report directly as a PDF for distribution.
When Should I Use Queue?
Use Queue when you want to review the report results before deciding on an export format or when you may need multiple export formats from the same report execution.
Example: Queue a report, review the results, then export the report as both Excel and PDF without re-running it.
Accessing the Queue Option
- Sign in to WebReports.
- Select Reports from the navigation menu.
- Click Available.
- Select the report you want to execute.
- Click Queue.

Step 4: Wait for Report Processing

A notification will appear when processing has completed.
Accessing the Completed Report
After the report has been processed, it will be available on the Completed page.
From the Completed page, users can:
- Preview report output
- Download report results
- Review execution parameters
- Re-execute the report
- Delete completed reports
- Export the report in supported formats
For more information, see Working with Completed Reports in WebReports.
Benefits of Queue
Queueing a report allows the report to be executed once and reused multiple times.
This can help:
- Reduce unnecessary report executions
- Reduce database workload
- Improve efficiency when multiple export formats are required
- Simplify report review before distribution
Tip: If you need both Excel and PDF versions of the same report, Queue the report first and then export the completed report into the desired formats.
Best Practices
- Use Queue when multiple export formats may be required.
- Review report results before distributing report output.
- Verify report parameters prior to execution.
- Use Download when only a single output format is needed.
Article Summary
The Queue option allows users to execute a report and store the results on the Completed page without selecting an export format beforehand. This provides flexibility to review results, export to multiple formats, and access report output without repeatedly executing the same report.
