Roles organize WebReports users and control access to reports. The Roles page allows authorized administrators to create roles, manage role membership, review report access, and delete roles.
Open the Roles page
- Sign in to WebReports.
- Select Management from the navigation menu.
- Select Roles.
Review roles and report access
The role directory displays:
- Role — The role name.
- Users — The number of users assigned to the role.
- Assignments — The number of report assignments associated with the role.
Use the search box to find a role by name.
Select a role to review its assigned reports. The Assigned Reports table displays:
- Report name
- Available connections
- Report types
- How access was granted
- Expiration period
Report access is created and maintained from Management → Assignments.
Create a role
- Select Add.
- Enter a unique name in Role.
- Select Save.
The new role becomes available for user membership and report assignments.
Add or remove users from a role
- Select the role from the directory.
- Select Manage Users.
- Use the search or column filters to locate users.
- Check the box beside each user who should belong to the role.
- Clear the box beside any user who should be removed from the role.
- Select Apply.
The User Role column displays each user’s current role memberships.
Users can also be assigned roles when they are created or edited from Management → Users.
Delete a role
Before deleting a role, review its Users and Assignments counts. Removing a role may change users’ access to reports and WebReports features.
To delete a role:
- Select the role from the directory.
- Select Delete.
- Verify that the correct role is selected.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Do not delete a role that is still required by active users or report assignments.
