Managing Report Definitions in WebReports

The Report Definitions page allows authorized administrators to review reports published to WebReports, edit their categories and descriptions, and remove report definitions.

Report access is managed separately from Management → Assignments.

Screenshots use fictional demo data consistent with the other WebReports articles.

Open the Report Definitions page

1. Sign in to WebReports.
2. Select Management.
3. Select Report Definitions.

Review report definitions

The Report Definitions table displays:

• Report — The report filename.
• Category — The category used to organize the report.
• Description — A description of the report’s purpose.
• Assignments — The number of access assignments associated with the report.
• Storages — The number of stored report configurations associated with the report.

Use the search box to find reports by name, category, or description.

Select a report to activate the Edit and Delete controls.

Reports are published to WebReports from VDM. New reports are not added from the Report Definitions page.

Edit a report definition

The report filename cannot be changed from WebReports. The Category and Description can be edited.

1. Select the report.
2. Select Edit.
3. Update the Category or Description directly in the table.
4. Select Update.

Select Cancel to discard your changes.

Example: DemoSalesSummary.vdm has the category Demo Sales and the description Demo sales summary. The report filename and the counts remain unchanged while these fields are edited.

Use clear categories and descriptions so users can locate the correct report.

Delete a report definition

Deleting a report definition removes the report from WebReports and prevents it from being used for new report assignments until it is published again from VDM.

Before deleting a report, review its Assignments and Storages counts. Verify that the report is no longer required and that removing it will not interrupt user access or scheduled processes.

To delete a report definition:

1. Select the report.
2. Select Delete.
3. Verify that the correct report is selected.
4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deletion cannot be undone from the Report Definitions page. If the report is needed again, publish it to WebReports from VDM.
