You can update the Company ID in VDM Settings when your organization's ID changes or an incorrect ID was entered during registration.

Before You Begin
Confirm the correct Company ID with your organization or BridgeWorks Support. Change the Company ID only under the direction of BridgeWorks Support.
Save any open Views or reports. Changing the Company ID automatically restarts VDM.
Administrator access: To access Global Options and Service Options, you must open VDM by selecting Run as administrator. Opening VDM normally provides access to User Options.
Choose the Settings Level
Review which settings level needs the new Company ID before making the change.
| Settings Level | Applies To | Access |
|---|---|---|
| User Options | The current user's VDM environment. | Open VDM normally. |
| Global Options | Application-wide settings on the workstation. | Open VDM using Run as administrator. |
| Service Options | The VDM service and background processes. | Open VDM using Run as administrator. |
If your deployment requires changes at more than one level, review and update each applicable level. Do not assume that changing User Options also updates Global Options or Service Options.
Modify the Company ID
Step 1: Open VDM with the Required Access
For a change in User Options, open VDM normally.
For Global Options or Service Options:
- Close VDM if it is already open.
- Right-click the VDM application shortcut and select Run as administrator.
- Approve the Windows permission prompt, or provide administrator credentials if requested.
Step 2: Open Settings
Select Settings at the bottom of the VDM window, then select the applicable settings level: User Options, Global Options, or Service Options.
Step 3: Change the Company ID
Locate the Company ID field and enter the correct value. Click outside the Company ID field to save the change.
VDM restarts automatically after the Company ID changes. Once it reopens, return to Settings and verify the Company ID at the level you changed.
If you still need to update Global Options or Service Options, reopen VDM using Run as administrator before continuing.
If You Cannot Update the Company ID
If Global Options or Service Options are unavailable, close VDM and reopen it using Run as administrator. If you do not have administrator access, ask your organization's administrator for assistance.
If you are unsure which settings levels to change or receive an error, contact BridgeWorks Support. Include your VDM version, the settings level involved, and the exact error message, if one appears. Do not include your license key or registration password.
