A recurring appointment runs a saved Job on a repeating schedule. When you change a recurring schedule, decide whether the change applies to one occurrence or to the entire series, then verify the calendar and execution results.

Before You Begin
- Confirm that the saved Job runs correctly with the required parameters.
- Verify that the Scheduler configuration and service are available.
- Identify the exact appointment and date you intend to change.
- Use the current approved VDM release, especially if you have encountered older recurring-appointment problems.
Open the Scheduler Calendar
- Select Scheduler from the bottom navigation.
- Select Calendar under Automation.
- Locate the recurring appointment you want to review.
To create a new series, follow Creating Recurring Appointments in the VDM Scheduler. This article focuses on maintaining an existing schedule.
Choose an Occurrence or the Series
| Selection | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Edit the occurrence | One scheduled date needs a different time or other one-time change. This creates an exception to the regular pattern. |
| Edit the series | The repeating pattern or shared appointment settings need to change for the series. |
- Select the appointment.
- Use the Calendar’s appointment-edit controls and choose the occurrence or series action appropriate to the change. If prompted when opening a recurring item, select the intended scope.
- Review the date and selected scope before editing.
Note: Changing the series can affect its generated occurrences. Review any previously changed or removed occurrences when updating a recurring pattern.
Edit the Recurrence Pattern
- Open the series for editing.
- Select Recurrence.
- Review the start and end times, displayed time zone, recurrence frequency and range of recurrence.
- Make the required change and select OK.
- Review the selected Jobs and appointment details, then select Save And Close.
Check Time Zones and Daylight Saving
Review the time zone displayed in the recurrence dialog and the Windows time-zone configuration on the Scheduler computer. Check occurrences around daylight-saving transitions, especially for hourly and minutely patterns.
Compare the Calendar occurrence, Next Runtime and execution logs. A series created under one UTC offset can show a different local time after a transition. If the resulting schedule does not meet the business requirement, have the Scheduler administrator review the pattern and environment before changing production appointments.
Verify the Updated Schedule
- Navigate to the affected occurrence and to a later date in the series.
- Confirm that a one-time edit changed the intended occurrence, or that a series edit produced the intended repeating pattern.
- On the Options ribbon, open Calendar Detail to review recurrence information and Next Runtime.
- After the next expected run, review the logs for the appointment, Job, View and execution.
If a Run Is Missing or Appears Duplicated
Check for another appointment that references the same Job, an occurrence exception, a disabled execution or an unavailable View. Compare the scheduled time with the log time and the Scheduler service account’s access. A Calendar entry shows the schedule; completion must be confirmed from execution activity.
Record the appointment subject, recurrence pattern, affected dates, VDM version and log entries before contacting support. Avoid creating a replacement schedule while an existing appointment may still be active.
