The Multiple Master Filter feature lets users select more than one value within a visual element (such as a Pie Chart) to filter the data in other elements (like a Grid or Pivot). This adds flexibility when exploring datasets with multiple groupings.

Use Case: For example, selecting multiple employees in a Pie Chart will filter the Grid to show all corresponding records across those employees—ideal for comparing grouped performance or outcomes.

Why Use Multiple Master Filter?

• Enables multi-selection filtering across dashboard elements

• Facilitates side-by-side comparisons of multiple data groups

Note: To select multiple values, use Ctrl + Click on the segments (e.g., chart pieces or rows). If only single-value selection is needed, consider using the Single Master Filter instead.

Where Is It Used?

Multiple Master Filter is enabled in the Visualize Designer inside VDM and is available for visual elements such as Charts, Grids, Cards, and Pivots.

Steps to Set Up Multiple Master Filter

Step 1: Open Visualize Designer

Launch VDM, open or create a View, then click on Visualize Designer.

Step 2: Add Visualization Elements

Insert two or more elements (e.g., Pie Chart, Grid) into the dashboard to visualize your data.

Step 3: Select the Filtering Element

Click on the Pie Chart (or whichever element you want to use as the filtering source).

Step 4: Enable Multiple Master Filter

Under the Data tab, enable Multiple Master Filter.

Note: Tool options change depending on the selected item (e.g., Pie Tools, Chart Tools, Grid Tools).

Step 5: Use the Filter Interactively

Click on multiple values (e.g., chart segments) using Ctrl + Click. The connected elements like the Grid or Pivot will automatically update to show combined results from all selected values.

Use Case: Ctrl + Click on multiple pie slices for “Employee 1,” “Employee 4,” and “Employee 6” to see data aggregated across all three in the grid.
