A Range Filter is a dynamic filtering tool used in Visualize that allows users to adjust a sliding scale across a range of values—such as dates, prices, or quantities—rather than selecting individual values from a list.

Tip: Range Filters provide a more intuitive and interactive experience when filtering by numeric or time-based fields.

Why Use a Range Filter?

Unlike standard Filter Elements, which filter on one or more specific values, a Range Filter lets you:

• Set upper and lower bounds for filtering

• Interactively explore data within a defined range

• Adjust filters on-the-fly without re-running the View

Use Case: You want to filter sales orders where freight costs are between $10 and $50, dynamically controlled by a slider.

Steps to Add a Range Filter in Visualize

Step 1: Run the View

• Open or create your desired View.

• Click Run View to load the data.

Step 2: Open Visualize Designer

From the toolbar, click on Visualize Designer to enter dashboard mode.

Step 3: Add a Range Filter

From the Visual Elements list, drag the Range Filter onto your dashboard canvas.

Step 4: Set the Value Field

Drag the field you want to use for value filtering (e.g., Freight, SalesAmount, Date) into the Value slot of the Range Filter.

Step 5: Set the Argument Field

Drag the field you want to filter against into the Argument slot.
(e.g., EmployeeID, CustomerID, etc.)

Example Configuration

You want to analyze freight charges by employee:

• Value Field: Freight

• Argument Field: EmployeeID

This setup enables a Range Filter where you can dynamically adjust the Freight range and see how different EmployeeIDs perform within those bounds.

The current filter selection will appear next to the dashboard's title area, updating automatically as the slider is moved.
