Summary
This article outlines how to configure encrypted views in VDM, including the settings and processes used to secure sensitive view data and restrict unauthorized access.
Why Encrypt Views?
- VDM Views can be encrypted to ensure they are only accessible to a specific VDM Company ID.
- Encrypted Views cannot be modified by the end user, helping protect content creators and developers from reverse engineering or unauthorized changes.
- Encryption also helps prevent unauthorized access by restricting usage to users within the defined subscriber base.
Where do you Encrypt Views?
Views can be encrypted within VDM from the Home menu on the top ribbon bar. To encrypt a view, click the Save Encrypted button.
Steps To Encrypt Views
- Open the View: Locate the View file you want to encrypt and open it within the VDM platform.
- Click Save Encrypted: On the Home menu located on the top ribbon bar, click the Save Encrypted button to begin the encryption process.
- Enter the Company ID: Enter the Company ID that should have permission to access and run the encrypted View. This helps ensure that only authorized users are able to use the encrypted file.
- Provide a Filename: When prompted, enter a filename for the encrypted file.
- Views will be saved with the extension
.VDM - VoVs will be saved with the extension
.VDMV
- Views will be saved with the extension
Important Notes
- After encryption is complete, the file contents become unreadable and can no longer be viewed or interpreted through a text editor.
- If the encrypted file is modified or altered using a text editor, the file may become corrupted and no longer function properly.
