Summary
This article outlines the supported operating systems, hardware requirements, runtime dependencies, display settings, and supported platforms required to install and run VDM.
Supported Operating Systems
VDM supports the following 64-bit Microsoft operating systems:
| Operating System | End of Support / End of Life (EOL) |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 | October 14, 2025 (EOL — no longer supported by Microsoft) |
| Windows 11 | Varies by release version and edition (currently supported) |
| Windows Server 2016 | January 12, 2027 |
| Windows Server 2019 | January 9, 2029 |
| Windows Server 2022 | October 14, 2031 |
| Windows Server 2025 | October 10, 2034 |
Notes:
- Windows 10 is End of Life (EOL) and no longer receives security updates or Microsoft support. Windows 11 is recommended for all new deployments and supported environments.
- Windows 11 support lifecycle depends on the specific feature update/version installed. Devices must remain on a supported release to continue receiving security updates and Microsoft support.
Hardware Requirements
| Requirement | Recommended Specification |
|---|---|
| Processor | 2 vCPU, 2GHz or higher |
| Memory (RAM) | 16GB minimum |
| Disk Space | 1GB available storage |
| Database Connectivity | Supported ODBC driver installed and configured |
Larger datasets may require additional RAM for optimal performance.
Display Requirements
VDM does not currently support 4K monitor resolutions.
For the best user experience and interface compatibility, BridgeWorks recommends the following display configuration:
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
- Display Scaling: 100%
Using unsupported resolutions or display scaling settings above 100% may result in interface rendering or usability issues within VDM.
Required Software Components
VDM depends on the following Microsoft runtime components:
- Microsoft .NET Windows Desktop Runtime 10 (x64)
- Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime 10 (x64)
If the required runtimes are not detected on the system, VDM will automatically prompt for installation when the application is launched.
Supported Platforms
VDM is compatible with the following platforms and file types:
- ODBC Compliant Databases
- OLEDB Compliant Databases
- Microsoft SQL
- MySQL
- Oracle
- Rocket U2
- Snowflake
- Delimited Text Files
- Fixed Width Text Files
- InterProse ACE
- InterSystems Caché
- InterSystems DeepSee
- InterSystems IRIS
- InterSystems IRIS BI
- InterSystems IRIS for Health
- Microsoft Access
Compatibility may vary depending on driver configuration, database version, and environment setup.
Additional Recommendations
For best performance and stability:
- Keep Windows fully updated
- Use the latest approved VDM release
- Verify database drivers are properly configured
- Avoid unsupported display scaling configurations
- Ensure sufficient system resources are allocated for larger datasets or virtual environments
