Configuring High DPI Scaling for VDM

If VDM appears unusually small, blurry, or incorrectly scaled, you can adjust the Windows compatibility settings for the VDM application.

This setting changes how Windows displays VDM and does not affect the data or configuration stored in the application.

Display Requirements

Important: VDM does not currently support 4K monitor resolutions.

For the best user experience, BridgeWorks recommends:

  • Resolution: 1920 × 1080
  • Display Scaling: 100%

Using unsupported resolutions or display scaling above 100% may cause interface rendering or usability issues.

When to Use High DPI Scaling Override

You may want to use this option if:

  • VDM appears too small on the screen.
  • Text or controls appear blurry.
  • Parts of the VDM interface are difficult to read.
  • The application does not scale correctly with the current Windows display settings.

Note: High DPI Scaling Override is intended as a display troubleshooting option. It does not replace the recommended VDM resolution and scaling requirements.

Configure High DPI Scaling

  1. Close VDM.
  2. Locate the VDM shortcut or executable.
  3. Right-click the shortcut and select Properties.
  4. Open the Compatibility tab.

Open the Compatibility tab from the VDM shortcut properties.

  1. Select Change high DPI settings.

  2. Under High DPI scaling override, enable:

    Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:

  3. Select System from the dropdown.

Enable High DPI scaling override and set Scaling performed by to System.

  1. Select OK.
  2. Select Apply.
  3. Open VDM and confirm that the application displays correctly.

If the Display Still Looks Incorrect

If VDM still appears blurry or incorrectly scaled:

  • Confirm that the display resolution is set to 1920 × 1080.
  • Confirm that Windows display scaling is set to 100%.
  • Close and reopen VDM after making display changes.
  • Avoid using a 4K resolution with VDM.
  • Contact BridgeWorks Support if the issue continues.
