Bridgit in Visualize Designer helps you create and revise a native dashboard using the View’s assigned data. Describe the information you want to present, review the proposed dashboard and continue with targeted changes.
Before You Begin
Bridgit AI must be configured with an approved OpenAI API key before you begin. See Bridgit AI Overview and Usage Guide for setup information.
- Use a VDM version that includes Ask Bridgit in Visualize Designer.
- Run the View and verify that its results contain the required fields and data.
- Save a copy before changing an existing dashboard.
- Define the measures, grouping, filters and audience for the dashboard.
Open the Designer Conversation
- Open the View and select Visualize Designer.
- Select the Designer’s Ask Bridgit icon.
- Describe the dashboard or the change you want.
- Answer any clarification in the same conversation.
The Designer conversation edits dashboard content. To discuss the results of a displayed dashboard without designing it, use the Visualize Viewer analysis experience instead.
Describe the Dashboard
Include the visual elements, dimensions, measures, calculation definitions and intended interactions. For example:
Create a dashboard using the current View. Show total quantity, a chart of quantity by category and a detail grid. Add a category filter and apply it to the chart and grid. Sort categories by quantity and use a consistent number format.
Use the fields and definitions from your View. Specify whether a filter affects the complete dashboard, one item or only a displayed measure. If a ratio is required, define its numerator, denominator and population.
Review the Applied Dashboard
Bridgit prepares and renders dashboard changes for review before applying an accepted result. After completion, check the dashboard in Visualize Designer:
- Verify each measure’s calculation and aggregation.
- Confirm that dimensions, hidden data items and date grouping match the request.
- Test filters, master-filter interactions, drill-down and range selections used by the dashboard.
- Compare totals with the relevant query population.
- Check captions, sorting, colors and number formats.
Filtered totals may differ from totals for all returned rows. Compare values at the same filter and grouping scope rather than assuming that every displayed number uses the complete dataset.
Request Changes Without Rebuilding Everything
Continue in the same conversation and identify the item to change. For example: Keep the measures and filters. Change the category chart to horizontal bars and show the largest values first.
When several changes are needed, state their order or submit focused follow-ups. Requests received during active work can be queued. Wait for the relevant completion result before deciding whether another adjustment is needed.
Handle a Refresh Warning
A dashboard design can be applied successfully and then encounter a problem while reloading data. If VDM reports this outcome, inspect the dashboard before requesting the same change again. Preserve the applied design, resolve the data-refresh issue and reload when appropriate.
If VDM cannot confirm whether a change was applied, stop further changes and inspect the Designer. Retain the exact message for support rather than treating the outcome as an unchanged dashboard.
Undo and Save
Ask Bridgit to undo its last applicable change when that is your intent. Later manual edits can prevent a safe automatic restoration; follow the message shown rather than assuming an older dashboard will overwrite your current work.
- Review the final dashboard and select Save.
- Reopen the View and confirm that the layout is retained.
- Refresh with representative data.
- Test important filter/range selections and review the Viewer result.
If the Requested Dashboard Cannot Be Completed
Review the message and any missing fields or calculation definitions. Resolve the underlying data requirement or narrow the requested edit to supported native dashboard features. Visualize and Finished Reports have different design surfaces; do not assume that every operation or reference-file workflow is identical.
