If one or more Command Tables are missing from the CommandTables section of a connection in VDM, use the steps below to verify where the Command Table files are stored and determine whether they are still available.
Command Tables are stored as .vdmct files and are associated with a connection profile.
Check the Command Table Storage Location
- Open VDM.
- Select Settings from the bottom navigation bar.
- Locate the Folder Locations section.
- Find the folder location configured for Command Tables.
- Copy the configured folder path.
Example: Command Table folder location in VDM Settings.
Open the Command Table Folder
- Open Windows File Explorer.
- Paste the Command Tables folder path into the File Explorer address bar.
- Press Enter.
Example: Opening the configured Command Tables folder in Windows File Explorer.
Note: If the folder cannot be opened, verify that the complete path was copied from VDM Settings and that you have access to the configured location.
Check the Connection Profile Folder
Command Tables are organized by Connection Profile.
Inside the Command Tables storage location, locate the folder that corresponds to the connection where the Command Tables are missing.
For example, you may see folders similar to:
- DemoSQL
- TrainingDB
- SampleConnection
Example: Command Table folders organized by Connection Profile.
Open the folder for the affected connection profile.
For more information about locating stored Command Tables, see How to Find Stored Command Tables for Sharing in VDM.
Verify the Command Table Files
Inside the connection profile folder, verify whether the expected .vdmct files are present.
Example files may look like:
- SalesSummary.vdmct
- CustomerTotals.vdmct
- OpenAccounts.vdmct
Example: Stored Command Table files for a connection profile.
If the Command Table Files Are Present
If the expected .vdmct files are present but the Command Tables do not appear in VDM:
- Verify that you are using the correct Connection Profile.
- Confirm that the connection is active.
- Close and reopen the connection if needed.
- Restart VDM and check the CommandTables section again.
If the Command Tables are still missing, contact your administrator for additional troubleshooting.
If the Command Table Files Are Missing
If the expected .vdmct files are not present, the files may have been:
- Moved to another folder
- Deleted
- Stored under another connection profile
- Removed during a profile or environment change
Check the other connection profile folders in the configured Command Tables location.
If the files cannot be found, check with your system administrator to determine whether they can be restored from another location or from a backup.
Important: Do not move, replace, rename, or delete Command Table files unless you have confirmed the correct storage location and connection profile.
Restore a Missing Command Table
If you have a copy of the missing .vdmct file, it can be imported back into VDM.
- Open the appropriate connection in VDM.
- Locate CommandTables in the Tables and Fields panel.
- Right-click CommandTables.
- Select Import.
- Browse to the appropriate .vdmct file.
- Complete the import.
- Verify that the Command Table appears under CommandTables.
Example: Importing a Command Table into VDM.
For complete instructions, see How to Import a Command Table (.vdmct) in VDM.
Still Missing?
If the Command Table cannot be located or restored, gather the following information before contacting your administrator or BridgeWorks Support:
- Connection Profile name
- Names of the missing Command Tables
- Configured Command Tables folder location
- Whether the corresponding .vdmct files exist
- Whether the issue affects one connection profile or multiple profiles
Providing this information can help determine whether the Command Table files were moved, deleted, or are associated with another connection profile.
