Overview
VDM can automatically embed Command Tables in all newly created view files. Enabling this setting helps ensure views remain portable and can be shared without missing Command Table dependencies.
Embedding Command Tables by default can reduce setup time, simplify collaboration, and help prevent issues caused by missing external Command Table references.
Important: This setting only applies to new views created after the option is enabled. Existing views must still be updated manually if you want their Command Tables embedded.
Enable Automatic Command Table Embedding
Step 1: Open VDM
Launch the VDM application.
Step 2: Open Settings
Select the Settings tab from the navigation area.
Step 3: Enable Embedded Command Tables
- Locate the Embedded Command Tables setting.
- Change the value to True.
When enabled, VDM will automatically embed Command Tables in all newly created view files.
Results
After enabling this setting:
- New views automatically include their associated Command Tables.
- Views are easier to share with other users and environments.
- The need to manually enable Command Table embedding for each new view is eliminated.
- The risk of missing Command Table dependencies is reduced.
Additional Information
Command Tables contain configuration information used by a view. Embedding them within the view file helps ensure the view remains self-contained and portable when shared with other users.
