Summary
The Save With Data option allows users to save a View along with its current dataset. This can be useful when sharing results, preserving a snapshot of data, or reducing the need to immediately rerun queries.
Support for Save With Data is now available when working with supported VoV (View of Views) datasets and Multi-Query Views.
What Does Save With Data Do?
When enabled, VDM saves the View together with the data currently loaded in the View.
This allows the saved View to retain the dataset that was present at the time the View was saved.
Common benefits include:
- Preserving a point-in-time snapshot of data.
- Sharing Views with existing results.
- Reducing the need to immediately rerun queries.
- Maintaining datasets for review or comparison purposes.
Supported View Types
The Save With Data option is available when working with:
- VoV (View of Views) datasets
- Multi-Query Views
Previously, the option was visible but unavailable (grayed out) for these View types. Save With Data is now available and functions as expected for supported VoV datasets and Multi-Query Views.
Using Save With Data
- Open a VoV dataset or Multi-Query View.
- Run the View and load the desired data.
- Select Save With Data.
- Save the View.
The current dataset will be included with the saved View.
When Should I Use Save With Data?
Consider using Save With Data when:
- You need to preserve a snapshot of current results.
- The underlying data may change before the View is reopened.
- You want to share a View with data already loaded.
- Query execution time is significant and retaining the current dataset is beneficial.
Notes
Note: Save With Data stores the data that is currently loaded in the View at the time of saving.
Note: If the View is refreshed or rerun later, the returned data may differ from the originally saved dataset depending on changes in the underlying data source.
Article Summary
The Save With Data option allows users to save VoV datasets and Multi-Query Views together with their current data. This provides a convenient way to preserve data snapshots, share results, and work with previously retrieved datasets without immediately rerunning queries.
