Use the Logs page in VDM to monitor Scheduler activity, review scheduled Job execution progress, and confirm that the Scheduler Service is running and processing appointments.
The Logs page includes two tabs:
- Application Logs — Shows scheduled Job and execution activity.
- Service Logs — Shows Scheduler Service activity and service-level processing.
Open the Logs page
- Open VDM.
- Select Logs from the bottom navigation.
- Select either Application Logs or Service Logs.
To view a screenshot at full size, right-click it and select Open image in new tab.
You can also adjust the date and time range at the top of the page and select Refresh to load the latest activity.
Application Logs
Use Application Logs to monitor scheduled Job activity and review execution progress.
The log can display information such as:
- Log Time — When the log entry was created.
- Log Type — The type or status of the entry, such as Info or Success.
- Version — The VDM version associated with the process.
- Process — The process ID associated with the activity.
- Sessions — The number of active sessions.
- Mem Usage — Memory being used by the process.
- Available Memory — Available system memory.
- User — The Windows user associated with the process.
- Workstation — The workstation running the process.
- ID — The log or execution identifier.
- Type — The type of scheduled activity.
- Connection — The connection profile being used.
- Appointment/Master Job — The associated appointment or Master Job.
- Appointment Window — The scheduled time range.
- Job — The Job being processed.
- View — The View used by the execution.
- Execution — The execution being processed.
- Message — Details about the current activity or result.
The Message column is especially useful for following execution progress. Entries can show activity such as:
- Adding an execution to the queue.
- Opening a View.
- Starting a search.
- Sending the query.
- Returning query results.
- Completing the View.
- Exporting a file.
- Completing the export.
Service Logs
Use Service Logs to monitor the activity of the VDM Scheduler Service.
Service Logs can help confirm that the service is running, checking for scheduled appointments, and processing Scheduler activity.
The log can display information such as:
- Log Time
- Log Type
- Version
- Process
- Sessions
- Mem Usage
- Available Memory
- Total Memory
- User
- Workstation
- ID
- Type
- Connection
- Appointment/Master Job
- Appointment Window
- Job
- View
- Execution
- Message
The Message column can show service activity such as:
- The next Scheduler Service check.
- The next history cleanup.
- Whether there are schedules to run.
- Appointment evaluation details.
- Whether an appointment will run, is currently running, or has already run.
Refresh and review log activity
Use the date and time controls at the top of the Logs page to select the period you want to review.
Select Refresh to reload the logs and display the latest activity.
The logs can be used to confirm whether:
- The Scheduler Service is active.
- Scheduled appointments are being evaluated.
- Jobs are being added to the execution queue.
- Views are running successfully.
- Exports are completing.
- Errors or failed activity require additional troubleshooting.
