This article explains how to configure a Default Connection in VDM, enabling an automatic database connection upon application launch for quicker access to data.
What Is a Default Connection in VDM?
A Default Connection is a predefined database connection that VDM automatically uses when the application starts. This eliminates the need to manually select a connection each time VDM is opened.
Why Set a Default Connection?
Setting a Default Connection helps you:
- Save time by connecting automatically when VDM launches
- Avoid confusion about which connection to use
- Streamline your workflow, especially when working in the same environment daily
This setting ensures your most-used connection is ready from the start—ideal for routine reporting or development.
Steps to Set a Default Connection
Step 1: Open Settings
From the main VDM screen, click Settings on the bottom taskbar.
Step 2: Select the Default Connection
In the Settings menu, locate the Default Connection field. From the dropdown list, select the connection profile you want VDM to use by default.
Important: Ensure the selected connection profile has already been created and tested.
