Why Edit a Connection Profile?
You may need to edit a connection profile to:
- Update login credentials (username and password)
- Modify server names or IP addresses
- Change database names or schemas
- Enable or disable prefixing, special character support, or other settings
Keeping your connection profiles up to date ensures smooth and secure access to your databases.
Steps to Edit Existing Connection Profiles
Step 1: Open the Edit Connection Option
You can access the Edit tool in two ways:
- Go to the Database tab and click Edit - (Figure 1)
- In the Tables/Fields section, right-click the desired connection profile and select Edit - (Figure 2)

Step 2: Use the Connection Profile Wizard
After selecting a profile to edit, the Connection Profile Wizard will launch with the current settings pre-filled.
You can now update:
- Connection Type for the database and Prefix Options
- Connection Information (Server, Instance, Database, Username, Password, Encrypt Connection, Trust Server Certificate, and Trusted Connection)
- Options (Profile Name and Selected Schemas)
Click Next to move through each step and review or adjust settings as needed.
Step 3: Save Your Changes
After completing your updates:
- Click Finish to save the edited connection profile
- Click Load All from the Database ribbon to refresh available connections and confirm the changes
