Change the Windows account used by the BridgeWorks VDM Scheduler Service through Windows Services.
The service must be restarted before the new account takes effect.

Before You Begin
Use an account that has access to the Views, reports, export folders, and other locations used by Scheduler.
Important: The service account must be able to access the paths configured in SERVICEOPTIONS. If those paths point to another user’s folders, verify that the new account has the required access or use accessible locations.
For help checking access, see Verify Scheduler Service Permissions and Access.
Make the change when no Scheduler jobs are running, since restarting the service interrupts its operation.
The screenshots use the fictional local account DEMO-PC\VDMScheduler. Use your own Windows account and password.
Open the Service Properties
- Close VDM.
- Search for Services in Windows and open it.
- Locate BridgeWorks VDM Scheduler Service.
- Right-click the service and select Properties.
- Select the Log On tab.
Select the Account
- Select This account.
- Click Browse.
- Check From this location. If needed, use Locations to select the computer or domain containing the account.
- Enter the account name.
- Click Check Names to resolve the account.
The demo account resolves to DEMO-PC\VDMScheduler.
- Once the correct account is resolved, click OK.
- Enter the account’s password in Password and Confirm password.
The Log On tab shows the selected account with both password fields masked.
- Click Apply.
- If Windows displays a notice that the new logon name will not take effect until the service is restarted, click OK.
- Click OK to close the properties window.
Restart and Verify the Service
- Select BridgeWorks VDM Scheduler Service in the Services list.
- Click Restart the service. If the service is already stopped, click Start the service.
- Confirm that Status shows Running.
- Confirm that Log On As shows the intended account.
The demo service is Running under .\VDMScheduler.
- Verify a scheduled job completes successfully and can access its required files and output locations.
A service that starts successfully may still encounter job errors if the new account lacks access to required resources.
Troubleshooting
Check Names does not find the account
Check the spelling and selected computer or domain, then try again.
Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure
Return to Properties → Log On. Verify the account and re-enter its current password in both password fields. Click Apply, then try starting the service again. If the error continues, ask your Windows administrator to check the account and its service logon permissions.
The service runs, but jobs fail
Review Scheduler logs and verify the account’s access to the paths in SERVICEOPTIONS, source files, and export destinations.
