Use your company's registration details to activate VDM after installation. This guide covers first-launch OPTIONS setup, registration fields, and confirming that activation succeeded.
Before you begin
Have VDM installed and these details available:
- The license type assigned to you.
- Your company's Company ID.
- The Registration Password.
- Your License Key.
- Your email address, first and last name, main phone number, and country.
Company registration details are typically included with your VDM purchase confirmation or supplied by your administrator. If you cannot locate them, contact BridgeWorks Support.
1. Complete OPTIONS setup if prompted
On a clean installation, you normally do not have an existing OPTIONS file. Select No when asked whether to import one, then follow the prompt to create a new OPTIONS file.
If you already have an appropriate OPTIONS file from a previous installation or your administrator, importing it is optional. Select Yes and browse to that file. Check that the imported settings and paths apply to this computer.
See Installing VDM and Required Components for the full create-or-import path. You do not need to obtain an OPTIONS file from another installation before registering.
2. Open the registration window
Launch VDM. If a registration prompt appears, select OK. You can also open registration from Help → Register.
3. Select your license type
In Select Version, choose the license type assigned to you:
- Developer — create and edit Views, reports, and configurations.
- View Only — open and run existing Views without editing them.
The selected type must match the license you were assigned.
4. Enter your company registration details

| Company ID | The Company ID supplied for your company |
| Registration Password | The registration password supplied with your company registration details |
| License Key | The key assigned for this registration |
Use the supplied registration details rather than a database password, Windows password, or Application ID.
5. Enter your user information
Complete the user-information fields with your Email, First Name, Last Name, Main Phone, and Country. The workstation-information area displays information about the computer and VDM version.
6. Register and check the result
- Select Register.
- When registration succeeds, acknowledge the confirmation message. The registration window closes and VDM remains open. If your application closes, reopen VDM.
- Open Settings and review License Information on the right to confirm the license status.

If registration does not complete
Check the selected license type, Company ID, Registration Password, and License Key against the details supplied to you. If registration still fails, contact BridgeWorks Support with your VDM version and the exact error message. Do not include your registration password or license key in screenshots or the support request.
