What Is the Paste List Values Feature?
This feature allows users to quickly populate IN type parameters by pasting a list of values directly into the parameter form.
Why Use Paste List Values?
This feature:
- Significantly speeds up data entry for multi-select parameters
- Supports importing long lists (IDs, codes, names, etc.) without manual entry
- Works seamlessly in both VDM and WebReports
- Ensures accurate batch filtering based on bulk input
Important: This feature is only available for IN-type parameters, and values must be separated by commas.
Steps to Use Paste List Values in VDM
Step 1: Open VDM
Launch the VDM application.
Step 2: Open or Create Your View
Select or create the view that contains the IN-type parameter you want to use.
Step 3: Setup the Parameter
If you are creating a new view, navigate to the Parameters menu and add a parameter, ensuring the Type is set to IN. If you are using an existing view, confirm that a parameter is already configured with the IN type.
Step 4: Select the Parameter
Navigate to the FSGS menu and select the field you want to apply the parameter to. Set the Operator to “Is any of”, then in the Value dropdown, select Parameters and choose the IN-type parameter you want to use with the Paste List Values feature.
Step 5: Run the View
Execute the view to bring up the parameter input form.
Step 6: Paste Your Values
In the top field of the IN-type parameter input, paste your comma-separated list of values.
Tip: Example input: 1,2,3,4,5
Step 7: Apply the Values
Click the arrow (+) icon next to the input field to add the values to the parameter list.
Step 8: Finalize Parameters and Preview Results
Enter any additional required parameters, then click Finish to run the view and preview the results.
Example Output
Your report will now display results filtered based on the values entered using the Paste List Values feature.
Steps to Use Paste List Values in WebReports
Step 1: Select a Report
Log in to WebReports and select the report you want to run.
Note: Ensure the report you are running has the parameter properly configured as an IN-type parameter, and that the view is set up to use that parameter for filtering. Step 2: Paste Values into the Parameter
Paste your comma-separated values into the top field of the IN-type parameter.
Step 3: Add Values
Click the top single arrow icon (➤) to move the pasted values into the selected list.
Step 4: Finish Parameter Entry and Run Report
Complete any additional required parameter fields, then click Finish to run the report.
Example Output
Your report should now reflect results filtered by the values you entered using the paste list feature.
