Why Format Axis Values?

Note: Axis formatting applies per chart series and must be configured individually for each relevant axis (X or Y).
Where Is Axis Formatting Done?
Axis formatting is performed in the Chart Designer inside the Finished Reports Designer. You’ll access text patterns via the Label properties for the axis.
Steps to Format the X and Y Axis Values
Step 1: Run the View
Open and execute your View in VDM to load data into the report.
Step 2: Open the Finished Report Designer
Enter the Finished Reports Designer to begin editing your chart layout.
Step 3: Open the Chart Designer
Click to edit the chart or right-click on it and select Run Designer to open the chart configuration window.
Step 4: Select the Axis
In the Chart Designer:
Click on the series you want to modify.
Then select the X or Y axis depending on what needs to be formatted.
Alternate Config – Pie Charts:
For pie charts, select the value series, then find the Text Pattern Editor under the Behavior section instead of axes.
Step 5: Open the Text Pattern / Pattern Editor
Expand the Label properties and click the “...” button next to Text Pattern to open the Pattern Editor.
Step 6: Select and Format Value
Double-click the
{V}placeholder.Click inside the braces after the
V, then use the dropdown to:Set Format Type (e.g., Number, Currency, Date)
Choose desired Unit, Precision, or enable group separator
Once the desired format appears in the preview pane, double-click it to apply.

Step 7: Preview and Confirm
Click OK to apply changes, then preview the chart to confirm the desired output is reflected.
