Why Use Grid Summaries?
Grid summaries are especially helpful when:
You want to get quick total or average values without exporting data
You're working with detailed records, but still need high-level insights
You're previewing data before investing time in a full report build
They provide fast and flexible analytics directly within your active view session.
Where Can You Use Grid Summaries?
Grid summaries can be applied to:
Detail Grids – typically used during the development and testing of Views
Summary Grids – used to analyze aggregated data

Steps to Use Group and Report Summaries in the Data Grid
Step 1: Group a Column
To group data:
Drag and drop a column header into the Group By Box (above the grid). This will organize the grid data by unique values in that column.
Tip: You can group by multiple columns to create nested groupings.
Step 2: Add a Group Summary
To add a group-level summary:
Right-click on the Group Summary bar beneath a grouped column
Choose from available options:
Sum
Min
Max
Count
Average
None (to remove the summary)
These summaries apply only to the grouped data and are displayed beneath each group.
Step 3: Add a Data Grid Summary (Report-Level)
To summarize the full dataset:
Right-click on the Data Grid’s Footer
Select a summary type for the desired column
This will apply a summary across all records in the grid, regardless of grouping.
