Grouping

Grouping

Adding grouping to your View will allow you to summarize your data by the report fields you selected.

To add a grouping, select the desired report field in the group by dropdown list and click the button to apply the grouping.  Repeat to add additional groupings.  In the example below we are grouping by the Status Code.

The data will be grouped in the order the group options are placed in the list box. To change the grouping order, highlight the group item by clicking on the appropriate value and then click the Move Group Up or Move Group Down buttons .  To remove a grouping, highlight the group item by clicking on the appropriate value, right click and click remove.

Grouping Options

There are a couple special grouping options in VDM that will allow you to further aggregate your data by Aging Buckets, ATB, and Date Grouping. To access the grouping options select the desired field and click the Apply Group button.  Once the group item is added, right-click on the newly added group and choose the appropriate option.

Aging Buckets   Use Aging Buckets on Formula fields where you are calculating the number of days between two dates using DateDiff.  In the example below we are calculating the number of days between the Assigned Date and the Transaction Date.

ATB (Aged Trial Balance) Views - The ATB View displays the aging of your accounts in 30 day buckets for any grouped or multi-grouped item such as Client ID, Status Code, Assigned Date, Payer and more.

Date Options     Group any Date field by Month, Quarter or Year.  In the example below we are grouping the Transaction Date by month in order to get the summary totals for each month rather than each Transaction Day.
