In this article we cover the steps for creating an MDS view.
Why Create an MDS View?
MDS views allow multiple databases to be used to create a single View by sending a query to each database and combining the results into another query using the MDS database.
Video Tutorial:
Steps To Create an MDS View.
Note: MDS will need to be setup to run any MDS views.
1. Open VDM.
2. Add the desired fields from the first database.
3. Add the desired fields from the second database.
Note: Once you add fields to the View from another database, the MDS indicator will be enabled.
4. Make any needed adjustments to the linking.
5. Run the View and verify the results.
Note: Since the View is MDS, VDM will send one query for each database and combine the results in an MDS query. If you view the logs you will see 3 queries in total. See below for the different queries being sent.
