Visualize - Creating a Chart

Note: All Visualize examples are done with the Northwinds sample database. If you would like to use the Northwinds database as well, click here. This impacts the fields used in creating the Pivot.

 

Basic Chart

  1. Click the Chart Icon to insert this element into the Data Visualization.
  2. Drag a field into the Value.
  3. Drag a field into the Argument.

 

Example Northwinds Chart

  1. Click the Chart Icon to insert this element into the Data Visualization.
  2. Drag the Shipping Fee field into the Value.
  3. Drag the State/Province field into the Argument.
  4. Right Click on the Chart.
    • Select Edit Names.
    • Change the Item Name to “Shipping Fees by State”
    • Change Series to “Shipping Fee”
  5. Under the Chart Tools at the top of the screen, select Design.
  6. Click on the Y-Axis Settings.
    • Click Custom Text and set the text to “Fee”
  7. Click on the X-Axis Settings
    • Click on the Checkbox for Show Title.
    • Click Custom Text and set the text to “State”

 

This example shows the Shipping Fees by State.
